If polo is your passion — of if you’re looking for a fun weekend excursion — head to the city for a mix of food, cocktails and game.
The Victory Cup Polo Match takes place on Sept. 23 at Governors Island. Along with the polo matches, the event features farm-to-table fare from New York City chefs, wine tastings and food truck pairings.
Governors Island is a 172-acre park in New York Harbor. Guests can get to the island by ferry with service beginning at 10 a.m. The ferry departs from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South St. in Manhattan and from Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park in Brooklyn.
The upscale event kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with mimosas and Bloody Marys.

The Victory Cup features polo matches, but when you’re not watching the action, there is plenty of entertainment for the family. Enjoy a mix of activities, vendors, food trucks and a children’s playground all framed by the lower Manhattan skyline.
Make sure to dress creatively for the Best Dressed Awards.
Proper polo attire is required. For men suggested outfits include button-down shirts and chinos. Women can don a fun sundress and playful hat and pearls for style. Wedges, flat sandals or cowboy boots are most appropriate for stomping divots at half-time.
Polo is a team sport played on horseback using a wooden or a plastic mallet to hit the ball. Teams win by scoring the most points.
